Amelia Earhart once said “The most effective way to do it, is to do it.” This is how I feel about spring cleaning.
When the weather warms up and the trees are blooming with their beautiful blossoms, the last thing I want to be doing is going through closets and cleaning out drawers. But spring cleaning doesn’t have to be an unending list of chores. In fact, it can be a time to look at your home with fresh eyes and breathe new life into your living spaces.
On the one hand, springtime feels like crossing a finish line – we made it through the winter! Holiday craziness, cold weather, long days and early nights are now a thing of the past. On the other hand, spring is a time for new beginnings. It’s amazing how something small like pulling out sandals and getting a pedicure can make you feel ready to take on the world.
You might look at spring cleaning the same way. A few small steps can give your space a facelift, leaving you feeling refreshed and energized and excited about what’s to come. There are so many lists on readying your house for spring, but Boxy Girl® will focus on keeping your bedroom, bathroom and closet neat and chic. Here are just a few ways to brighten your personal space and welcome spring like the lioness you are.
Strip your bedding. Pull everything off your bed and clean according to their instructions. Don’t forget to wash your pillows, too, and flip your mattress. Then remake your bed with spring linens. Making your bed every morning will make your room look instantly neater.
Conquer your closet. This task can seem overwhelming, so invite a friend or two over and promise yourself wine when you’re done. (Wine and chocolate are the best motivators!) Go through your racks and drawers and pull out anything you haven’t worn in at least a year. Donate whatever is in good condition and trash the rest. A tightly curated closet filled with items that fit you properly and you love to wear will make your mornings infinitely easier!
Tackle the toilet. This might be my least favorite chore, but here’s a tip: use cola! Pour a bottle of cola into the toilet, making sure to coat the entire inside, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then scrub and flush for a spotless commode!
Clutter-free countertops. If you don’t use something, get rid of it. Don’t overthink it – just toss it, especially old makeup that could be harboring bacteria. If you have more than two or three of something, just save your favorites and donate or trash the rest.
The best way to organize your items is with a Boxy Girl®, of course! It has four drawers to store all of your personal items, whether it’s makeup, jewelry, or toiletries. Everything will be in one spot, easily seen, and at your fingertips when you need them. Boxy won’t crack or peel, can easily be wiped clean, and at 13 pounds of Lucite it is built to last.
Sort, Toss, Organize! To help you with these tasks, set a timer. You don’t have to spring clean your entire house in one session! Set the timer for 15 minutes and go in this order: sort your items, toss what you don’t need and can’t give away, and organize the rest.
As Amelia Earhart said, the best way to spring clean is to just do it, and Boxy Girl can help you do it exquisitely. Whether on your dresser, in your closet, or on your countertop, Boxy Girl® will help you organize and beautify all your spaces. I can’t think of a better way to welcome spring!
